The burglary took place while a three-week search for the singer-songwriter was still ongoing.

Martin, 29, who performed under the stage name Rainy Boy Sleep, was last seen alive in Derry in late July and his car was later found near Fanad lighthouse in Co Donegal.

His body was discovered on Strand Hill beach, Co Sligo, on Saturday August 13.

Police said the burglary at his home on Great James Street in Derry took place between 10.30am on Thursday August 11 and 11.30am on Friday August 12.

A sum of money and assorted musical equipment was also stolen.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) spokesman said: "Stephens's family would appreciate any helping in locating these items."

Martin regularly played at venues across Derry and Donegal and performed in Glastonbury and toured with Cyndi Lauper and James Morrison.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
