The family of Jason Corbett gathered at the weekend to mark the first anniversary of his death.
Jason (39) from Limerick was found dead with fatal head injuries at his home in North Carolina, US on August 2 last year.
Jason's second wife Molly Martens (31) and her father Thomas Martens (65) were charged with second degree murder and manslaughter, however their family claim that the pair were acting in self defence when Jason was killed with a baseball bat and a paving stone in the early hours of August 2, 2015.
Over the weekend the Corbett family gathered in Co Clare to remember Jason.
The official Justice for Jason Facebook page said: “We gather to remember the big and the little things that made a special place in our heart.
“To remember those happy times when we laughed and those times when our hearts broke as one. We gather to share the pain. To hurt when you hurt without presuming that our pain is the same. To cry when you cry and not try to hide or avoid our tears.”
Jason’s two children Jack (11) and Sarah (9) are living with their aunt and uncle in Limerick after they received legal guardianship of the two kids during a long legal battle.
Jason’s first wife and the children’s biological mother Mag died in 2006 from an asthma attack.
