A search is underway in Benidorm for an Irish man who is believed to be missing.

Dean Currie, who is a father-of-two from Lurgan, Co Armagh arrived in the holiday resort on Sunday morning with his friend.

The 36-year-old left his hotel to buy alcohol that night and hasn't been seen since. He had his wallet with him containing around €600 - but left his mobile phone behind.

His concerned brother Jamie and mum Anne are on their way to the resort to help with the search.

Jamie told the Belfast Telegraph they couldn't sleep as they feared the worst.

He said: "There's a search out for him. He left the hotel on his own to go and get drink and never came back.

"We haven't slept all night."

Jamie and his mum will meet with police in Benidorm and have arranged to meet a specialist group who deal with missing persons.

He added: "We just want to get him back."

If you have any information contact the family through his Facebook page here.
