Fake Children's Hospital collectors arrested
A man and a juvenile were arrested in Leitrim yesterday for unlawful collection for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.
The pair were collecting money on the Main Street in Carrick-on-Shannon, with people being under the impression the money was going towards the children’s hospital.
Gardai were alerted and found that they had no ID, permit or authorisation from the hospital.
The adult male was charged and is due to appear before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on Tuesday, September 27.
A garda spokesperson said that anyone collecting money on behalf of a charity must have ID, a permit and authorisation.
