Most of the country will enjoy sunny spells today with temperatures expected to hit 23 degrees.

“It’s going to be very nice today and there will be warm, long spells of sunshine throughout most of the country,” said a spokesperson for Met Eireann.

Temperatures could drop to single figures tonight, with mist and fog in areas, but tomorrow will be a good day for half the country.

“The country will be split in two tomorrow, with Munster and Leinster dry while western parts will be duller and cloudier, with mist and patchy rain from late morning up until evening,” they said.

Rain will move eastwards on Wednesday night and by Thursday there will be patchy rain for most of the country that will last all weekend.

“There will be more patchy rain on Thursday and temperatures in Munster, Connaught and Ulster will drop to 16-18 degrees.

“On Friday there will be rain for most of the country that will become heavy at times. There will be showers all weekend with temperatures in the high teens.”
