Emergency services rush to scene of large fire opposite Rotunda Hospital
Firefighters are still battling a blaze that all but destroyed a popular Dublin city centre café and bed and breakfast.
Seven units of the Dublin Fire Brigade, including an hydraulic lift, are being deployed to extinguish the fire at the Kingfisher Townhouse on Parnell Street.
The fire appears to have started in the basement area of the restaurant, which is located across from the Rotunda Hospital, according to an official from the Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB).
The cause of the blaze, which broke out shortly after 7:30pm this evening, remains under investigation.
No one was injured in the blaze and all occupants of the building were evacuated without incident.
However the fire has caused “substantial damage” to the complex, according to the DFB.
