Elderly woman dies from injuries after being struck by car

An elderly woman has died from injuries suffered in a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Dublin.
The incident happened on the Navan Road at approximately 8.15am.
The female pedestrian was taken to the Mater hospital where she later died.
The 39-year-old male driver of the car was arrested but has since been released from Finglas Garda station and a report is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The road remains closed and it is expected to reopen around 1.30pm later today.
Motorists are advised that there are road works on Blackhorse Avenue and this should not be used as an alternative route.
There are diversions at the Nephin Rd and Kinvarna Ave junctions with the Navan Road.
