Elderly woman dies after road accident involving four cars and a truck
The woman was rushed to University College Hospital Galway but died later yesterday
A woman driver in her 70s died after she was involved in a car crash yesterday.
The five-vehicle collision occured in Roscommon yesterday afternoon.
The elderly woman was removed to University College Hospital Galway but she died later in the afternoon.
Gardaí are investigating the crash that occurred in the townland of Cloonfree, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon at 1.30pm yesterday. The collision involved four cars and a truck.
The passenger in the woman's car, a man in his mid 70s, was removed to UCHG with minor injuries.
The driver of the truck, a man in his early 40s, also sustained minor injuries and he was taken to Sligo Hospital.
Two people in the the second car - a man a woman both in their early 30s - were taken to Mullingar Hospital with minor injuries.
Two occupants of the third car - a 70-year-old woman and a 65-year-old woman - were uninjured.
The woman driver of the fourth car, and her three passengers were not injured.
The road in the area was closed to facilitate the Garda forensic collision investigators and has now reopened.
