Elderly man killed in collision in Louth

A 76-year-old man has been killed in a single vehicle collision in Drogheda, Co Louth this evening.

The accident happened at around 7.30pm at the Roadhall roundabout, North Rd, Drogheda.

He was the only person travelling in the car and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic investigation.

It is expected to reopen at midnight and local diversions are in place.
