It is not believed that anybody is seriously injured following the collision.

It's understood some eight cars are involved, and one car rolled into a verge.

The incident led to delays at the scene. However, one lane has since re-opened and traffic is moving again.

Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution as the road is very slippery.

Separately, a three car collision occurred on the M6 Dublin/Galway Raod westbound before J17 Athenry. Emergency services were at the scene.
