A note on the picture says 'David and Sandra, 1946, Neville Road in Birmingham".

The little girl is blonde and wearing a ribbon in her hair, while the boy has his hair neatly sides and is wearing a jumper and shorts.

Dublin Airport posted the image to their Facebook account on Wednesday in a bid to locate the owner.

"A passenger left this photograph as security in Terminal 1 today," the post read.

"Can you please share the image as we would love (like) to reunite the photo with its owner as we're sure sure it has significant sentimental value."

Since the post went up yesterday, it has been shared more than 4,000 times.
