A car crashed into into two parked vehicles before flipping over on its roof before the driver fled the scene.
Leaving a trail of destruction along Oldpark Road in Belfast, the driver hit two parked cars before crashing the stolen vehicle on the pavement on its roof.
olice said the red Vauxhall Corsa was stolen a short distance away and say they were called about the incident at 8.45pm.
However, by the time officers arrived the driver of the Corsa had already run from the scene. Police are trying to identify the man and have appealed for anyone who can help to contact them on 101.
The cost of the damage is thought to run into tens of thousands of pounds. And it comes just two days after a woman was pulled from her car just three miles away at Dunluce Avenue.
The woman was left uninjured but shaken by the incident, which also saw her car used in an armed robbery at a Lisburn Road pharmacy.
In May police recorded 19 incidents of vehicle crime in north Belfast.
SDLP councillor Paul McCusker said such crimes “plague” north Belfast communities.
He said: “The reports of a carjacking add a sinister dimension to the recent plague of joyriding. It astounds me that despite the constant warnings and the obvious dangers, that some people still endanger themselves and others by showing such reckless disregard.”
