Designers stake a claim on future

The Design & Crafts Council of Ireland has unveiled the winners of the 2014 Future Makers Awards and Supports programme, which assists Irish creatives to forge an exciting future in the craft and design industry.

So strong was the competition that four emerging designers have been selected to share the overall Practitioner Future Makers award.

Enda Scott, Petria Lenehan, Ashleigh Smith and Kate O'Kelly each received €1,000 to help their creative development.

Skillful young Irish ceramicist Etaoin O'Reilly received the overall Student Future Makers prize of €2,500.

The Student Innovation award went to Lorna Boyle and the Practitioner Innovation Award went to Kate O'Kelly.
