Delays to rail services after person hit by train on Dublin line

Rail services have been closed in North Dublin after an incident on the line this morning.

Emergency services are attending the scene near Skerries station. It is understood that a person died after they were struck by a train on the line at approximately 8am.

Irish Rail confirmed that the station is closed at present. Trains between Drogheda and Malahide have been suspended until further notice.

Northern commuter customers have been advised to make alternatives arrangements.

Dublin Bus is currently accepting rail tickets.

Dublin Fire Brigade said officers from Skerries fire station are currently attending the incident.

Traffic

Meanwhile, it has been a busy morning for traffic across the capital.

According to the AA traffic is slow on the M50 southbound from the M1 Interchange to Junction 6 Blanchardstown and intermittently slow from Junction 7 Lucan to Junction 11 Tallaght.

It is slow then further south at Junction 12.
