Death of mum found with head injuries 'not suspicious'

Gardaí investigating the sudden death of a woman who was discovered with head injuries overnight have confirmed that her death is not being treated as suspicious.

The woman (54), a mother-of-two from Latvia, was found outside an apartment at Kempton Court, Cavan town shortly after 6.30am on Thursday.

Emergency Services and gardaí were called to the scene. The woman was taken by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Her body was removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a post-mortem was carried out this afternoon by Dr Michael Curtis, Deputy State Pathologist.

The tests showed that her death was not suspicious and gardaí are investigating if she died as a result of an accidental fall.

Gardaí in Cavan will now prepare a file for the Coroner's Court.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Kempton Court or Drumalee areas of Cavan town between 3am and 7am to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cavan Garda Station 049-4368800 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
