Dublin Fire Brigade warned cyclists to wear helmets after posting the shocking images online.

A spokesman wrote on twitter: "A cyclist had a lucky escape in the city centre after a collision with a car.

"They were thrown clear from the collision suffering a nasty leg injury, but could of [sic] been so much worse. Remember to always wear a helmet."

The injured party was brought to hospital where they were treated for a leg injury.
