Cyclist (40s) killed after colliding with road bollard

A cyclist has been killed after crashing into a bollard in Cork yesterday evening.

The man, aged in his late 40’s, crashed at Shandon Street in the city at approximately 5.40pm.

He was brought to Cork University Hospital and was pronounced dead late last night.

The road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.

Gardai in Watercourse Road in Cork are investigating the crash and are appealing for witnesses to the accident to contact them on 021 4558260, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
