A special concert to mark the third anniversary of the murder of detective Garda Adrian Donohoe is on course to sell out.
It was confirmed the funds raised by 'Remembering Adrian' concert will be put towards a scholarship - which reflects the love Garda Donohoe had for sport.
The finer details of the scholarship are a work in progress, but it is understood that it will not be confined to any particular sport or any particular college.
"We are also looking at identifying possible recipients who may come from a disadvantaged area where funds maybe particularly hard for them to find. We believe this is something Garda Donohoe would support himself," said one of the organisers of the concert, Stewart Agnew.
The 'Remembering Adrian' event will be performed in St Joseph's Redemptorist Church in Dundalk, which is also where his funeral mass was held. It will on Friday January 29, almost three years to the day since he was shot dead.
Mr Agnew, who is also a musician, said: "Almost all of the 550 tickets have now been sold and the response to the concert has been phenomenal."
