Garda Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan is expected to write to all members this week instructing them to work this Friday - the day of proposed industrial action.
Over 10,000 members of the Garda Representative Association (GRA) and a further 2,500 sergeants and inspectors are not expected to show for work this Friday and on three further Fridays in November over a dispute on pay and conditions.
However it is now being reported that the Commissioner will write to all members this afternoon instructing them to work on Friday. She is expected to write that all leave and rest days have been cancelled.
Ms O'Sullivan's letter follows meetings this morning about contingency arrangements for the days of action.
Meanwhile, the Garda Representative Association is set to attend the Labour Court tomorrow after rejecting proposals that would boost a garda’s pay by almost €2,500 a year.
However, as it stands, Friday’s strike by its 10,500 rank and file members is set to go ahead.
