Coastguard rescues six children stranded on pier as tide started coming in

Six children have been rescued by the Coastguard this evening.

Earlier this evening, a call came into Malin Head Coastguard regarding two groups of six children in Co Donegal.

It was reported that they were stranded on Bundoran pier, about half a mile out from the shore, when the tide started coming in.

The Bundoran Lifeboat and Sligo Coastguard were despatched to the scene.

They managed to rescue one group of children – while the other six made it safely to the shore without assistance.
