Car smashed into traffic lights and set on fire in Dublin, gardaí investigate

Gardaí are at the scene of a serious car crash in Finglas North Dublin.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a silver Toyota Avensis struck a pedestrian traffic light on St Margaret's road shortly after 5am.

The car was later set on fire.

Gardaí have closed off the road and a forensic examination is expected to take place.

A senior source said they do not suspect the car was used in a serious crime. Officers will investigate if the vehicle was stolen prior to the crash.

Traffic diversions are currently in place.
