BT Young Scientist: New paint to mute noisy neighbours

Your noisy neighbours could become less of a problem with soundproofing paint designed by two students from Sutton Park School, in Dublin.

Naoise Tobin and Heather Murphy (both 15) found adding carbon to paint reduced decibel levels in homes and public spaces.

Naoise told the Irish Independent that she hopes there would be huge demand for the sound-absorbing paint.

Both girls also believe the future is bright for women in science.

"Looking at percentages of the amount of females who have entered and won the BT, it's really inspiring for us," Heather said.
