A brave little kitten who was skinned and left for dead at the foot of Croagh Patrick has now found a loving home.

Little Patrick made a miraculous recovery after a cruel ordeal that meant the tiny creature needed amputative surgery to have his tail removed.

He was left for dead at five weeks old at a roadside close to the base of the holy mountain three months ago.

The injured kitten was discovered as hundreds of pilgrims gathered to climb Croagh Patrick on Reek Sunday in July.

Catherine Hopkins took the suffering animal to her veterinary nurse sister Jacqueline who runs The LaundroMutt dog grooming service in Castlebar.

Despite extensive injuries, believed to have been inflicted deliberately, Patrick made an incredible recovery - albeit without a tail.

Now, the gorgeous young feline has been successfully rehomed to new owners based in Co Galway.
