THE army bomb squad has dealt with a device in south Dublin this evening.

The specialist bomb unit was called to a house at Priory Drive, Stillorgan, earlier tonight.

It is understood construction workers renovating a house discovered the device and alerted gardai.

The explosive ordnance disposal team and gardai were called to the scene.

However, while the device has to be formally identified, sources say it is historical.

A local resident in the estate said the area was sealed off for a short while but has since re-opened.
