Bodies of man and woman found in Limerick

Gardai have launched an investigation into the deaths of a man and woman.

Their bodies were discovered early this morning - at approximately 3am - by gardai in Limerick.

It is understood they were found in an upstairs bedroom of an isolated farmhouse in the townland of Boolaglas, between Askeaton and Rathkeale, in Co Limerick.

Post mortem examinations on the remains are expected to be conducted later today.

It is not clear how the pair died, but it is believed the bodies could have been there "for some time, possibly weeks", according to sources.

It's believed the man and woman were both in their forties.

It's understood the couple are not from the area and may have been renting the property.

Gardai are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the scene surrounding the farmhouse has been sealed off to facilitate the a full forensic examination.
