Barristers elect new chairman

SENIOR Counsel David Barniville has been elected as chairman of the Bar Council, the ruling body for the country's barristers.
The commercial lawyer and arbitrator, who was elected a Bencher of the King's Inns two years ago, succeeds David Nolan SC as head of the representative body for the country's 2,300 barristers.
Mr Barniville, a married father of three, is a former member of the Legal Aid Board, as well as of the Competition and Mergers Review Group, and has held numerous other high- profile posts.
