A baby has been injured following a two car collision near Dundalk earlier today.

The serious collision occurred at Carnbeg on the Old Armagh Road 177 at approximately 11.00am this morning.

One woman and a baby were travelling in one vehicle, while a man was travelling in the second car.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin with serious leg injuries.

The infant in her car received minor injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The male driver of the second car, who is in his 20s, was also conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. There was nobody else involved in the collision.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination and diversions are in place.
