BA announces new route to London City
BRITISH Airways has announced plans to start flying into the financial heart of London from Dublin this winter.
The carrier will be the third airline to offer a direct link into London City Airport from October – giving business passengers and tourists a choice of 15 flights out of Dublin each day.
BA starts its new direct five-a-day flights from Dublin on October 26, the day before Flybe starts four daily services. Cityjet already has six daily services to the same airport.
BA boss Willie Walsh said customers wanted direct access to the Docklands and London's financial centre.
"The excellent schedule we are offering means they have plenty of choice whether they are flying for business or pleasure," said the chief executive of International Airlines Group.
The Dublin-London route is one of the busiest city-to-city routes in the world, with almost four million passengers travelling between the capitals last year, up 6pc on 2012.
One-way, hand baggage-only fares start from €39.
