Gardai are appealing for witnesses following an incident in which a man died after he was struck by a car this morning.

The man, who was in his twenties, died after being struck by a car at the Naas Rd inbound past Newlands Cross at approximately 3am this morning.

Gardai in Clondalkin aere investigating the fatal road traffic collision and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

In particular, they wish to speak to anyone who was travelling either into the city or towards Naas on the dual carriageway between Newlands Cross and the M50 turn off between the hours of 3am and 4.30am.

They are asking people to recall if they noticed a man on or near the roadway at the time.

It’s the third death on Irish roads this weekend. Yesterday evening a woman was killed in Kilkenny in a three car crash.

Early on Saturday morning a pedestrian was killed in Cork while out walking.
