Almost €2,000 has been donated to help a homeless man who was burnt out of his tent earlier this week.
Michael Veale (35), who was living rough in a small tent for almost two months in Cork City, was devastated when his few belongings – including a sleeping bag, tent, clothes and shoes - were torched by vandals at the weekend.
Activist for the homeless Christina Chalmers highlighted his plight on The Neil Prendeville Show on RedFM yesterday.
She said any money raised would allow Michael to rent a flat for a month or two, and help get him back on his feet.
Red FM has announced that the target of €,2000 was reached.
“Thank you to everyone who helped to get money together for homeless Michael to get him a little flat, deposit and months rent organised,” the station said on its Facebook page.
