Mr Higgins enjoyed a spot of lunch on the 'Elcano' yesterday afternoon at Dublin's Sir John Rogerson's Quay.

Mr Higgins visited the Spanish Royal Navy training ship after delivering a speech at the Tomorrow's Leaders Conference at Trinity College Dublin.

The conference brings together dozens of young people from around the world to discuss challenges faced by today's youth.

It was established by the Elie Wiesel Foundation, which combats indifference, intolerance and injustice through international dialogue and youth-focused programmes.

Tall ships entertained thousands when they docked here for the Dublin Riverfest during the June bank holiday weekend.
