All abroad: Leap Card users can ditch their Dublinbikes card from today

Dublin bikes and LEAP Card holders will be able to use both services with just the LEAP Card from today.
People will still have to use their Dublinbikes account to pay for the service, but they can hold their details on the LEAP card for convenience.
To avail of this service, users need to log onto their Dublinbikes account, follow the instructions to register their LEAP card and validate it at any of the stations in the city.
Dublin bikes users face a price hike of over 50pc due to the cost of running the scheme. Currently, Dublin City Council fork out over 300,000 per year to cover the shortfall in sponsorship and payments.
But costs could jump even higher if the advertising dispute between DCC and sponsor JC Decaux is not resolved.
DCC councillors this month voted against placing more billboards in southeast locations, which was part of the contract with JC Decaux.
This will go to a full DCC vote later this month.
Anne Graham, chief executive of the National Transport Authority, said: “Being able to use LEAP Card across multiple transport modes has proved to be a big draw for commuters with over one million cards sold since its launch five years ago."
