A double decker bus rolled down a ramp at Dublin Airport, smashing into traffic lights and a trolley bay before finally coming to a stop.

Miraculously, nobody was injured in the incident, during which the bus crossed two lanes of traffic.

An investigation is now under way into the incident yesterday after the Bus Éireann vehicle rolled backwards down the ramp leading to Terminal 2.

It demolished a set of traffic lights and a trolley bay and then crossed the road to the airport car park before stopping on a grass bank.

The incident left a trail of destruction and blocked the car park entrance lane.

There were no passengers or driver on the bus at the time of the incident.

A spokeswoman for Bus Éireann said: "Bus Éireann is currently investigating an incident involving one of our vehicles at Dublin Airport.

"The vehicle involved was not in service at the time."
