New station to operate 23 services a day

THE country's newest train station will offer commuters 23 services a day on weekdays when it opens for business next Monday.

Iarnrod Eireann said some 300 car parking spaces would be provided at Oranmore station in Galway to cater for workers, students and day-trippers travelling into the city in a journey which will take just 10 minutes.

The station cost €3.3m and will serve trains travelling between Galway, Dublin and Limerick. A total of four services will run into the city between 8am and 10am during the week, with five departing Galway between 4.30pm and 6.40pm.

In all, 23 services will run on weekdays, 22 on Saturdays and 15 on Sundays.
