New quango man was an earlier FF appointee

THE latest appointee to a state board with a link to the coalition has a distant relationship with Fine Gael, but he had also been put on the quango by a Fianna Fail minister.
Gerald FitzGerald has been was appointed to the Competition Authority. He is a relative of former Fine Gael TD Alexis FitzGerald and was a member of the party for a short period five years ago.
Mr FitzGerald is regarded as an expert in competition law after practising in the area for several decades.
In 2010 and 2011 he was twice appointed by then Enterprise Minister Batt O'Keeffe as a temporary member of the authority for six-month periods
