SHE can take to the stage in front of thousands without the slightest butterfly, but Crystal Swing singer Dervla Burke was a knot of nerves as she waited for her Leaving Cert results yesterday.

While her friends in Cork were down at the school gates first thing to pick up their envelopes, Dervla was out of town with the band and had to bite her nails until noon when the results finally went online.

"I'm delighted, I'm really, really happy. I'm jumping around the place," said Dervla minutes after receiving her results. She would not reveal her exact grades but said shehad surpassed her own expectations.

"I didn't expect to get what I did because I missed so much school... but I had a target and I got 100 points over that," she added.

Dervla, her mother Mary and brother Derek, were in Termonfeckin, Co Louth, last night to perform live on RTE's 'Charity ICA Bootcamp'.

"All my friends are going out in Cork to celebrate.

"I'm a bit gutted that I won't be able to go out with them tonight," she said.
