Nephew raped aunt at home after threat to kill her

A CONVICTED criminal has been charged with raping his aunt in her home after threatening to kill her if she did not do as he asked.

Colm Kelly (32) -- with addresses in Davitt Park, Ballybrack, Co Dublin; and Came Point, Castletownbere, Co Cork -- had pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to rape, oral rape, sexual assault and false imprisonment on August 25, 2010. Mr Justice Carney was told that the 54-year-old victim wished to waive her right to anonymity so her nephew -- the son of her brother -- could be named.

The court also heard that Kelly had 67 previous convictions.

The judge registered Kelly a sex offender, remanded him in custody and adjourned sentencing to later this month.
