Nearly 60,000 may emigrate

UP to 58,000 young people will emigrate next year to seek work, it was claimed yesterday.
A survey by the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) found that unless job or education prospects improve, 70pc of 83,000 jobseekers aged 18 to 25 will consider emigrating in 2011.
The expected exodus -- larger than the population of Waterford city -- is one of the shocking findings the NYCI uncovered in interviews with young jobseekers, assistant director James Doorley said.
