A STRETCH of the N6 in Roscommon which had been closed due to a mudslide has now reopened.
Heavy rain this overnight caused mud and debris to flow from an embankment onto the slow lane of the road between junctions 12 and 13 eastbound, near Athlone.
At around 10am council workers closed off the left lane of the road.
The road was cleared by 11.15am however drivers have been advised to approach the section of the road with caution.
A spokesman for Roscommon County Council said that the lane would again be closed this evening to work on the embankment.
