Mum of three critical after car accident

A MOTHER is fighting for her life in hospital after falling in front of car while walking home.

Betty McGavigan, who is in her late 40s, was stuck by the vehicle on the Coneyburrow Road, in Lifford, Co Donegal, at 7.15pm on Saturday.

It is understood that the mother of three was walking near her home in nearby Beechwood Park when the accident happened. She suffered a broken arm, leg and collar bone and other serious injuries.

Ms McGavigan's sister was killed in a car crash around 20 years ago. She also had three bothers who died separately in tragic circumstances. Another sister died suddenly.

Gardai have asked anybody with any information on Saturday's accident to contact Lifford garda station 074-9141000.
