Mr Peter Curley: Correction and Apology

An article on February 21, 2014 headlined “Man given suspended sentence for pub assault which left victim with a fractured skull, facial injuries and ongoing pain” erroneously used the name of Mr Peter Curley, the victim instead of Mr Kevin McSwiggan, the assailant in referring to legal argument on behalf of Mr McSwiggan.

The paragraph should have read: “Ms Frayne said while Mr McSwiggan was studying for a Communications degree in DCU he had been living with a friend who was abusing drugs.

His friend died of an overdose in 2006 which brought him to his senses and he has not touched drugs since.”

We apologise to Mr Curley for the error in copy received from an external agency and are happy to emphasise that Mr Curley was never a drug user and has no connection whatsoever with drugs.
