THOUSANDS of members of the Polish community in Ireland gathered outside the GPO in Dublin city centre yesterday to listen to the funeral of their president, Lech Kaczynski.
The names of the 94 other people who died in the Smolensk air crash in which the president was killed were also read out.
The event was organised by seven Polish friends, who are not part of any organisation.
One of the organisers thanked President Mary McAleese and all who attended the gathering "to show their sympathy and solidarity and pay their last respects to the tragically deceased Polish delegation".
