Motorists furious after being clamped when parking app stopped working
A number of motorists were left furious on Tuesday morning when they were clamped after a parking app stopped working.
The Payzone parking app was upgraded overnight but when road users went to use it before 9am they were receiving error messages.
One South Dublin businessman explained that a number of his customers encountered problems with at least one woman reporting she had been clamped.
A spokesman for Payzone, based in Sandyford, confirmed that they had encountered problems.
He said: "Parking Tag experienced a minor outage this morning following an overnight technology upgrade, the issue was resolved by 8:52am."
He explained that customers would not be punished for the glitch.
"Any tickets or clamps applied to Parking Tag customers during this short period will be refunded in the normal manner."
