Motorists face mayo hazard

Motorists were faced with an unusual hazard yesterday when a pallet load of mayonnaise toppled out of a lorry in the centre of a town.
Gallons of mayonnaise spilled out of plastic containers and on to the streets of Birr, Co Offaly, when the truck shed its load at a busy junction in the town at around 8am.
Gardai confirmed "a lorry went through the junction in Birr at Townsend Street and Pound Street and basically the back doors were unsecured and so a pallet came out and smashed on the ground".
The mayonnaise was "cleared quite quickly" by Birr Town Council officials .
