Motorists experienced serious traffic delays on the country's big ring road this evening following two separate accidents.

The left lanes near Junction 5 and 6 Southbound of the M50 were closed for a time on Monday evening following two accidents.

Three fire trucks, three ambulances and a District Officer were sent to a three-car collision close to junctions for Finglas and Blanchardstown.

Three people were involved in the incident, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

Meanwhile, two more fire trucks were deployed to a second accident nearby.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said the lanes were open again shortly before 8pm local time.
