Motorcyclist dies after losing control of bike

A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed in a crash after he lost control of his bike yesterday afternoon.

Gardai are investigating the collision that occurred on the Monivea to Athenry road at approximately 3.15pm yesterday.

The man - who was in his late 40s - was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Galway.

This stretch of road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic  Collision Investigators and has since reopened.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
