Mother of lost trawlerman died a few hours before he drowned

THE Egyptian mother of Attia Shaban - whose body was recovered yesterday following the Tit Bonhomme tragedy in Union Hall, West Cork - died shortly before her son.

She had passed away in her sleep last Saturday, just hours before the trawler got into difficulty, according to the Cork Evening Echo.

The search for three fishermen still missing in the Cork trawler tragedy resumed this morning in favourable weather conditions.

The families and friends of skipper Michael Hayes (52) and friends of Egyptian crew members Wael Mohammed and Saied Ali Eldin were again keeping vigil on the quay at Union Hall.

Garda and naval service dive teams yesterday found Kevin Kershaw (21) and Attia Shaban (26).

The divers were today again searching at the sheltered cove where the bodies were found and they are also searching in another specific area of Glandore Harbour
