Mother and child tied up in aggravated burglary

A mother and child were tied up in their home during a terrifying robbery in North County Dublin today.

Gardai are tracing the steps of two men who forced their way into the home in Howth and stole a sum of money, as well as jewellery.

At approximately 9am this morning, two men knocked on the door of a home at Casana View in Howth, when they forced their way past a mother and her child in a dramatic raid.

The mother and her child were tied to chairs using cable ties to restrain them during the robbery.

Upon entering the premises, the men made a series of demands before leaving at 9.20am with as sum of money, Gardai confirmed to Independent.ie.

The individuals then stole the car of the woman, which they abandoned in Howth village.

Gardai are currently tracing the steps of the suspects after the car was abandoned.

The female victim eventually managed to free herself and raised the alarm to neighbours, who called Gardai.

Her husband, who is a dentist, was not at home at the time of the incident.

Investigating gardai are appealing for witnesses to come foward. No arrests have been made yet.
