Moriarty findings due in March

The Moriarty Tribunal will reveal its findings in March, the Dail heard yesterday.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen previously revealed the report into the issuing of a mobile phone licence to Denis O'Brien's Esat Digifone would be published mid-February.

Probe into rape claim of teen (14)

GARDAI were last night investigating claims by a 14-year-old girl that she was raped in a field. The teenager alleged she was sexually assaulted on the southside of Limerick city around 8pm on Monday.

Family members contacted officers at 10pm on Monday. Yesterday, an area in a field was examined by officers from Roxboro Road garda station. The girl underwent medical and forensic examination at a Cork hospital yesterday. A garda spokesman said that the matter was being treated as very serious.

Equality Tribunal boss to step down

THE long-standing director of the Equality Tribunal is stepping down after more than a decade at the helm.

Melanie Pine, who has served as the director of the State's anti-discrimination body since its inception in 1999, announced she will be retiring from the post and the civil service on May 17.
