Mooo-ving rescue as firefighters haul trapped cow back to solid ground
It was a very moving rescue as a heifer cow became trapped in a 20 foot ravine in Strabane, Co Tyrone.
Firefighters attached a sling to the animal with the help of a building contractors who were working nearby.
They were then able to lift the animal up out of the ravine with a Telehandler back into the field.
The cow was returned unharmed to solid ground.
A NIFRS spokesman said: "We would like to remind Farmers at this time of year when animals are returning to the fields, to ensure that potential hazards such as broken fences, drains and ditches are properly maintained to keep animals safe and to reduce the risk of livestock getting into difficulty."
